Interface Management Services, Inc. (IMS), in cooperation with Miami University, has developed an integration system to provide a seamless interface between the Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS), and the PeopleSoft student information system. The DARS Integration Management System accommodates the institutional trend toward integrated Student Information Systems, while maintaining the robust degree audit capabilities of DARS.
The Integration Management System is a component based system that is assembled off-site utilizing a combination of PeolpleSoft Application Messaging, ColdFusion and SQL to accommodate XML and non-XML versions of DARS, and PeopleSoft SIS versions 7.6 and newer. The Integration System is comprised of two activities: The DARS Report Request Transaction and Transfer Credit Data Return. The interface application server is web based, allowing efficient administration of available services. The Integration Systems allows for rapid, low cost interface upgrades as application versions are changed.
On-site installation requirements are minimal, with most installations requiring less than 16 hours to install, with no client side deployment. Individual institution’s business rules are formulated remotely via web forms, reducing travel and resource costs. Several customization options are available: including web consoles, PeopleSoft GUI panels, report viewers, and performance monitors. The interface will integrate with most web environments, and requires minimal system overhead.
